GATE 2021 CSE

GATE2021 is round the corner. I can feel the tremendous pressure that you all are going through. I know how important it is to crack the GATE, only one exam between you and your dream IIT/IISc. The moment when you see your name in the list of top rankers will change everything. I mean everything!!

I hope you have already done enough preparation, and nothing much can change now, but there is always a scope for improvement.

As the CSE exam is on 13th Feb and there are still few days left, you can do the following things.

1. Download all branch's papers at least 2016 onwards, and solve all the aptitude and maths problems from them.

2. Don't start a new concept; revise important topics like Cache, Pipelining, Decidability, Synchronisation, normalization, transaction and concurrency control, indexing, etc.

3. Revise Master's theorems, note down the important recurrence relations and their time complexities.

4. Aptitude is the crucial part if you are already not prepared; watch the videos of Dinesh Mighlani on YouTube and make short notes.

The other things which you can consider are:

1. Your performance in your mock tests sometimes don't reflect in the actual GATE, So if you are already doing well, then still be attentive in your exam, and if you are not doing well in the mock tests, still have good hopes, because your scores in the mock tests are not going to affect your final score.

2. It is okay to have rest one or 2 days before your exam.

3. If your exam center is at a bit distance, it is better to rent an Oyo room nearby the center instead of rushing to your center on the exam day. My center was in the same city still I stayed in a nearby hotel a day before the exam.

3. Reach the center well before the time, and don't get into personal chit-chat or arguments with anyone, not even with your cab or auto driver.

4. Carry 1 or 2 small chocolates and a little water bottle.

5. When you start writing your exam, go in full speed from the first minute itself, it will help you save some time, and you can attempt some tricky questions in the last minutes.

How to attempt paper?

1. Start with aptitude, then 1 mark questions, and finally 2 marks.

2. In the first round, attempt those questions only which you can solve quickly (less than 30 secs), no load on your brain. There is a question which you can solve, but it will take more than a minute and requires some calculations then you can leave it in the first round. 

2. In the first round, you will be able to solve 15-20 questions, and by that time, you would go through the entire paper once that gives you an idea about the difficulty level of the paper. 

3. After 1st round, solve the questions you can easily solve but left in the first round. Finally solve the difficult questions in the 3rd round and so on. 

4. Keep an eye on the questions panel, that will give you an idea about how many questions you have solved so far. 

5. Sometimes people have attempts like 60+ questions, but because of so many wrong attempts, they lose so many marks, accuracy matters! 

3. There is no need to go for a susu break, I am sure you can hold it for 3 hours, but still, if someone can't, search and remember the location of a toilet on your floor before you sit before the exam, It will help you not to waste your time in finding a bathroom during the exam.
